Yacht Charter

SKIPPERED YACHT CHARTER

Some guests don’t feel comfortable piloting an exotic boat on their own in unfamiliar waters or if you’ve not sailed for a while.

So take advantage of the sailing weather and charter with a skipper. You can have a skipper for the entire charter and enjoy the relaxed option, however, we recognise it is your charter, so you can choose the destinations and sites you want to discover or rediscover.

The skipper can work for you and be your guide to help lead you on your journey. Just because you have chosen a skipper does not mean you can’t take time at the helm if you wish. Along the way the skipper can familiarise you with the working systems of the boat and help you brush up on navigation, mooring and setting anchor.

BAREBOAT CHARTER

Bareboat charter is for guests who want to captain a boat themselves (qualifications required). Charter guests are responsible for all aspects of running the yacht, to include sailing, navigating, anchoring, provisioning, cooking, cleaning and, most importantly, having fun.

IS BAREBOATING FOR ME?

If you have experience and an adventurous spirit, then a bareboat charter is for you. This type of charter provides the utmost in freedom and privacy to do what you want, when you want. The agenda is your own.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM QUALIFIED?

At Challenge Yachting we recommend the bareboat guest who will operate the boat has some previous experience on a boat of similar size and, in most cases, at least one competent crew member. While a bareboat charter certificate is not usually mandatory, don’t take chances with yours and your crew’s safety.

If you are unsure of your sailing abilities, or simply want the knowledge of a local skipper, you can charter a bareboat and hire a professional skipper at a daily rate and then continue the rest of your charter on your own when you feel comfortable. If you would rather not cook, you have the option to hire a chef and have all of your meals prepared for you.
